I plan to pursue a career in pediatric anesthesiology. The mission statement of the SPA aligns with my current passions which include patient safety and quality improvement as well as pain management in the pediatric population.
I graduated from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica with a keen interest in the field of anesthesiology. I began my anesthesiology residency in 2018 at Temple University Hospital. After completing my pediatric rotation, it became clear that pediatric anesthesiology was the field for me. During my rotation, I had the opportunity to be taught by enthusiastic members of the Society of Pediatric Anesthesia, many of whom encouraged me to participate in the upcoming annual meeting as well as take advantage of the abundance of educational resources made available through the society's website. I am excited to have the opportunity to be a part of this society of great leaders, teachers and researchers in the field pediatric anesthesiology. Overall, I am hoping to one day become a professional in this field and make valuable contributions to the SPA as I continue on the path to achieving my career goals.

To access quality pediatric anesthesia related information straight from the "Horse's mouth" and to foster a long term relationship with the SPA team to enhance/enrich the pediatric anesthesia setting back home in my country.
I am a pediatric anesthesiologist, obviously passionate about it, currently doing a 20 year time jump. Right now in a mind blowing North American Pediatric Hospital and I look at life around me like a 6 year old- wide eyed and fascinated. This time travel from a resource limited pediatric setting to a futuristic setting has left me with my jaws dropping most of the time , shocked sometimes and almost always humbled.
The neonatal cry sounds the same, the beeping saturation probes are thankfully still the same, but what left me truly amazed, was the attitude behind the person holding the mask on the child was the same no matter which side of the globe they were from. Empathy is definitely a game changer in any pediatric anesthesiologist's life.
I did my pediatric anesthesia fellowship only to get over with my fears of anesthetizing a child ten years ago in India and over the last ten years, I have realized I have come closer to finding a purpose and meaning to life. With this one year international exposure, I see my goals and passions more clearly and know what I want for my patients and how I can go about achieving them.
I hope to make the best out of my association with SPA and look forward to contributing my bit to SPA as well.

I wanted to attend the conference and to do more collaborative work with colleagues in the US.
I am a consultant pediatric anesthesiologist and early career researcher. I work as a staff specialist at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, Brisbane. I have completed a Master of Medicine in Clinical Epidemiology and I am currently doing a PhD investigating behaviour change in children after general anesthesia. I am also interested in outcomes in pediatric perioperative medicine and developing better tools to measure these outcomes. Outside medicine I am married with three children, I enjoy keeping fit and I have a keen interest in film. Recently, a couple of friends and I bought and renovated an old cinema which is now open for business.
